Have you seen all the bronze hub statues that surround the Partners Statue in Disneyland?

Almost everyone has seen the famous Partners Statue in Disneyland’s Castle Hub or Central Plaza, but not everyone has seen the eight little Disney characters that surround it. Have you? If not, you’ve come to the right place, because I’m about to tell you about each one of them.

First of all, there’s the Partners Statue (below) that stands at the North end of Main Street, right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Disneyland Cigar Store Indian on Main Street USA

Ever notice the Cigar Store Indian on Main Street USA in Disneyland? What is he doing there? There’s no tobacco store anywhere in Disneyland.

When Disneyland first opened in 1955, there were a number of shops on Main Street that are now closed or have been replaced by other unique and magical boutiques. One of those original shops was the Tobacconist on the east side of Main Street, right next to the Cinema. It closed in 1990 and has since been replaced by the 20th Century Music Company, but its Cigar Store Indian is still presiding over Main Street USA.

There’s a myth that the golden spike near Sleeping Beauty Castle marked the exact geographical center of Disneyland when it opened in 1955. Let’s take a look at this myth to see if it’s really true or not. If you already know about the golden spike, there’s a bonus trivia fact at the end of this post that I’ll bet you do NOT know – could there be a second golden spike?

Disneyland Evil Queen Window

Eeek! The Evil Queen is after me! Just like she was after Snow White. If you glance above the entrance to Snow White’s Scary Adventures in Fantasyland, day or night, you might see the Wicked Queen slowly part the velvet curtains and stare out over the courtyard. Update for 2021 -> this attraction has been reimagined and renamed “Snow White’s Enchanted Wish.” See video of the changes further down below …

New Orleans Square Sailing Ship Masts and Sails

Off in the distance in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square, you might spy a sailing ship’s masts and sails. It looks like a ship is anchored on the waterfront in the Port of New Orleans. I don’t know about you, but it makes me want to bob and weave my way through the backstreets and passageways of New Orleans Square to find that ship and explore further. Of course, this is all Disney magic, and it is also a tip of the hat to one of Disney’s Legends, Herb Ryman.

In Disneyland’s Town Square, it’s hard to miss the towering 65 foot flagpole, but have you ever noticed the flagpole’s unique-looking base? It’s an ornate piece of metal that came to Disneyland because of an automobile accident in Los Angeles.

Disneyland Popcorn Carts

Even Disney’s popcorn carts are different and “themed” or designed to the land or area that they are located in. The popcorn cart in Tomorrowland looks like a spaceship, and the cart near the Matterhorn looks like it could be in a Swiss alpine village. Read on to see pictures and learn more.
